In Hospital? Just Ask the Priest!

Implementation of the Data Protection Act means that Hospital Chaplains can’t know you or your loved ones are in hospital unless you tell them.

Anyone being admitted to hospital should contact their local priest, preferably before admission, if they would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick.

Every hospital has a system for contacting the RC Chaplain urgently in emergencies, when the patient or family ask the nursing staff to summon him.

However, because of the implementation of the Data Protection Act, the Catholic Chaplain will not know you or your loved ones are in hospital unless you ask for him.

Just ask the priest!
