Read a short reflection on the readings from Friday in the Third Week of Eastertide below.
Today we hear about Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus in his pursuit of the arrest and persecution of Christians. The Risen Christ through a dazzling light speaks directly to the soul of Saul and transforms his entire essence and life. Saul is renamed Paul, a sign of his new role and mission as an Apostle of the Gospel. This powerful encounter and experience expanded his mind and interiorly transfixed him to the Risen Lord. St Paul is now sent and dispatched as an ambassador and bearer and servant of the Lord and will give his entire existence in this new and wondrous pursuit.
St Thomas Aquinas: “To convert someone, go and take them by the hand and guide them.”
St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein): “The nation doesn’t simply need what we have. It needs what we are.”
