Jesus has stated that “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who believes in me will never thirst”. Jesus invites all humanity to approach him, he who has been sent from the Father, in order to give life to the world. God the Father has desired eternally that all of us without exception be saved through his Son Jesus.
There is no tension between the will of Jesus and the will of the Father as the Father lives in Jesus and Jesus in the Father. To believe therefore is to align our wills to that of the Trinity and with that acceptance we will recognise his presence as the “bread of life” and all that that statement infers.
“Farmers everywhere provide bread for all humanity, but it is Christ alone who is the bread of life. Even if all the physical hunger of the world were satisfied, even if everyone who is hungry were fed by his or her own labour or by the generosity of others, the deepest hunger of man would still exist. Therefore, I say, Come, all of you, to Christ. He is the bread of life. Come to Christ and you will never be hungry again.” Pope John Paul II
