Rejoice and be glad<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhortation, entitled\u00a0Gaudete et exsultate<\/em> (‘Rejoice and be glad’), \"\"was given in Rome on the Solemnity of St Joseph, 19th March 2018.<\/p>\n

The title is taken from the Gospel of Matthew (5:12); it is an instruction given by Jesus to those who are humiliated for His sake. Pope Francis’ goal in writing this exhortation is to “repropose the call to holiness in a practical way for our own time, with all its risks, challenges and opportunities” (GE<\/em>, 2).<\/p>\n
